I love my new camera

This is just a drive by post, but I just wanted to say that this camera and combination of lenses (Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G AF-S & Nikkor 18-200mm VR) rocks my socks. Here are a couple of quick examples (Click on any of the pictures to view them larger) :

Lindsay Dapremont

Mike McIlhenny

Reach

Sunday Morning @ Venice Grind

Hanging Mugs @ Venice Grind

Morning Crew @ Venice Grind

Coffee Cups @ Venice Grind

Sunflowers for Sale

Death Sentence

I’m still learning all the controls and settings and toying with absolutely everything, but it’s remarkable how forgiving it is of my failings as a photographer. I can only hope I get better from here.

oooh SO jealous of your new 18-200mm lens! I get tired of switching lenses between shots for far away or up close.

Love the depth of field…and the spider shot is my favorite…

Yeah, the 18-200mm is pretty sweet as a do-it-all utility lens. I got mine refurbished. There’s no zoom creep on mine, which is a pretty common complaint for those. The 50mm really translates to a very fast 75mm since it’s made for FX cameras and this is still a DX, but that makes it great for portrait stuff like the picture of Mike or indoor stuff where you need a lot of light and don’t want to use a flash.
